Louie (@Bmorefood) and I got to check out Hamilton Tavern’s Brunch for the first time. We went on a beautiful Sunday morning around 11:30am and were able to grab seats once we got there. Yes, we sat next to the window because, ya know, that natural light is so important when taking pics ;D
As we sipped on our bloody mary and our spritzer, we perused the brunch menu and noticed that their famous Crosstown Burger was on there. The Crosstown Burger is probably one of the best burgers in the city so it’s no surprise that they’d want to offer that option for brunch.
We ended up ordering the following:
Fried Green Tomatoes
(not on the menu… yet) This light dish was topped with a crab salad.
Stuffed Brioche French Toast
Cream cheese stuffed brioche topped with warm peaches and finished with Bulleit bourbon caramel sauce.
Scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and chorizo wrapped in a toasted tortilla and served with sour cream and ranch potatoes at the side.
Shrimp & Grits
Texas gulf shrimp over cheddar stone ground grits and topped with creole sauce.
Roseda Farms beef, shredded iceberg lettuce, red onions, and horseradish cheddar cheese. You can add a sticky-spicy bacon or a fried egg or even both! It also comes with your choice of house chips, hang cut fries, broccoli salad, house salad, or ranch potatoes.
After taking all the pics, it was time to taste the food! Our faves? The Fried Green Tomatoes, the Shrimp & Grits, and the Crosstown Burger.
Although the Fried Green Tomatoes is not on the menu yet, you NEED to keep your eyes peeled for them when they finally are. This dish was so light, which was surprising since the three thick slices of green tomatoes were fried. The tomatoes themselves were sweet and juicy. It combined well with the crab salad piled on top, which was also light itself. You could definitely taste the crab. Off to the side laid a salad mixed with pesto, which was super delicious. It was filling, and I didn’t feel bloated. Also kind of didn’t want to share with Louie but sharing is caring I suppose lol.
For the Shrimp & Grits, the shrimp was super plump and huge. The grits were mixed well with the cheddar and it wasn’t watery at all. Really great texture. I really enjoyed the creole sauce on top and honestly, if i had my way, i would get more of that sauce and pour it over the whole dish. The dish was already great itself. Having more creole sauce would be a cherry on top… a delicious one at that!
I’ve had the Crosstown Burger before and, just like the first time, this huge burger was magical. The toasted bun was buttery, the burger was juicy and meaty, and the bacon was not only crispy but sweet and spicy! There is so much flavor in this burger that you honestly don’t need any condiments. Also, can we also applaud how Hamilton Tavern locally sources their beef from Roseda Farms? Love it when a Baltimore establishment supports local businesses.
Service wise, we had Kelly who was somehow working the bar and serving at the same time. Wonder woman right there! Heyyooo! She did a great job going back and forth between the two areas and checking up on us. She was also very knowledgeable with which dishes looked good and which dishes were tasty.
Have you been to Hamilton Tavern yet for brunch? What did you order? If not, please tell me you’ve had the Crosstown Burger… because it’s the best burger in Baltimore. Just sayin’.
